Great Grandma's Recipes - Cinnamon Rolls
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
With Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients -
2 loaves frozen bread dough (Rhodes)
- 1/2 sticks melted butter
- 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
Frosting:
- 1/2 cup of butter (1 stick), room temperature
- 8 oz of Philly cream cheese (1 package), room temperature
- 2 - 3 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
For the cinnamon rolls make sure the dough is thawed; with greased hands spread loaf to 6" 10" shape 1/2" thick. Spread 2 tbsp melted butter avoiding the edges. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar lightly and half of the cinnamon heavily. Roll up and pinch, repeat with the second loaf. Slice each roll into 7 slices, place onto a bake pan. Let the dough rise for 1 hour and then place into a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
For the frosting with an electric mixer, mix the butter and cream cheese together, about 3 minutes on medium speed until very smooth. Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl to ensure even mixing. Add the vanilla extract and mix. Slowly add the powdered sugar. Keep adding until you get to desired sweetness and thickness. Either spread on with a blunt knife or spatula, or spoon into onto the cinnamon rolls.
